Why I built ViraPlayer

Wust Creative LLC · Sheridan, WY

— ViraPlayer Developer

I just wanted to watch my stuff. That's it.

Finding the right subtitle was one problem. Getting the audio track I wanted was another. Often, the videos I had were in the wrong language format, or simply wouldn't render correctly. And the content I do have? I couldn't watch it the way I wanted.

Classic players felt stuck in the past. Advanced players were bloated and confusing. Self-hosted setups promised everything but delivered half of it. And none of them let me start playing a video on my laptop and pick it up on my TV without some painful setup.

So I built my own.

ViraPlayer runs on Windows, Android, iOS, and TV — same app, same interface, same experience. Your watch progress syncs across all your devices. Subtitles actually work — you can adjust the timing, the font, the position. It's the player I wanted but couldn't find.

Is it perfect? No. There are features I haven't built yet. But I use it every day, and it does what I need it to do. If you've felt the same frustration, maybe it'll work for you too.

ViraPlayer is a utility tool. We do not provide, host, or distribute any media content or playlists. Users must bring their own legal media.
